How to get ripped ab muscles?

My dad was a US Marine and had the record for the most sit ups in 2 minutes but still never could show abs for it???
Cause he says he doesn’t know since he never could show a 6 pack.
I am 17 right now what should I do if I want to have a 6 pack?
