July 12, 2011, Washington, DC - In triumphant testimony before a joint committee of the United States Congress in which he was greeted on both sides of the aisle as a conquering hero, General David Petraeus announced the withdrawal this month of the first 1,000 American troops from Afghanistan.

Heroes dont stop being heroes when they leave the battlefield, no matter what they leave behind. A group of veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, many having suffered physical impairments as a cost of their service, traveled through Pekin by bike Saturday while on a journey across the nation they served.
