WEDNESDAY, Dec. 15 (HealthDay News) -- U.S. health authorities Wednesday intensified pressure on makers of dietary supplements, warning individuals or companies marketing "tainted" products that they could face criminal prosecution, among other consequences.

On Wednesday, the FDA sent warning letters to dietary supplement manufacturers stating that many weight loss products, body-building products, sexual enhancements contain undeclared and deceptively labeled drugs, analogs and synthetic steroids. Further, many of these products are labeled as "herbal" and "natural" which misleads and confuses consumers.
